DOJ Denies Reports Of Trump Being Named In Epstein Files

The Department of Justice has refuted claims that Attorney General Pam Bondi informed former President Donald Trump that his name appeared in the Jeffrey Epstein investigation files. Multiple media outlets, including The New York Times, reported that Bondi and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche notified Trump and others about their inclusion in newly reviewed, previously unreleased documents related to the Epstein case. However, DOJ spokesperson Gates McGavick strongly denied these reports, labeling them as "falsehoods and innuendo" intended to fuel misleading narratives and attract attention.

In a separate development, Trump is currently suing The Wall Street Journal and its owner, Rupert Murdoch, over a prior Epstein-related report. Additionally, a judge recently denied Trump's request to release Epstein transcripts in Florida.

Public opinion on the Epstein files remains divided. A recent Washington Post poll found that most Americans are paying at least some attention to news about the Epstein files. The poll also revealed that Americans largely disapprove of how Trump is handling the issue, with most Democrats and independents disapproving, while Republicans expressed a mix of approval and uncertainty. Furthermore, a majority of Americans strongly support releasing all files in the Epstein case and suspect that the documents contain embarrassing information about Trump, Democrats, and billionaires.

The controversy surrounding the Epstein files has intensified political tensions. Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer criticized the Republican-led House for adjourning early to avoid a vote related to releasing files in the Epstein case, referring to the recess as the "Epstein recess."

As the debate over the Epstein files continues, the DOJ's denial of reports regarding Trump's involvement and the public's divided opinion underscore the complexities surrounding the case and its political ramifications.
